Ephesus is an easy day trip from Selçuk (5 min), Kuşadası (20 min), or Izmir (1 hour). Self-guided is cheapest; hire a guide at the entrance for the best experience. Combine with the Ephesus Museum and Temple of Artemis.

Best for most travelers: Base yourself in Selçuk for the cheapest and most convenient access. A morning at the ruins + afternoon at the museum and Temple of Artemis fills a perfect day.

From Selçuk (Easiest)

Selçuk is the closest town — Ephesus is literally a 5-minute drive away. Dolmuş minibuses run regularly from the town center. Many travelers walk (30-40 minutes) or take a cheap taxi.

From Kuşadası

Dolmuş minibuses depart from Kuşadası bus station to Ephesus regularly during the day (every 20–30 minutes in season). The ride takes about 20–30 minutes. Return dolmuş services run until early evening.

From Izmir

Take the İZBAN commuter train or Basmane–Selçuk intercity train (1–1.5 hours, frequent departures). From Selçuk station, it's a short taxi ride or dolmuş to Ephesus.

For Cruise Ship Passengers

Kuşadası is a major cruise port. Most cruise lines offer organized excursions to Ephesus ($50–$100+). Alternatively, take a taxi from the port ($4–$6) — negotiate the price for a round trip with waiting time. See our how to visit Ephesus guide for entrance details.
