Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Istanbul — Sultanahmet & Old City

Morning: Arrive at Istanbul Airport (IST). Transfer to Sultanahmet or Karaköy hotel. If you arrive early, start exploring immediately.

Afternoon: Visit Hagia Sophia (allow 1–1.5 hours), then walk to the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque) across the square. Continue to the Basilica Cistern (underground, 20-minute visit).

Evening: Walk through the Hippodrome area, dinner in Sultanahmet with views. Try a traditional Turkish kebab or meze platter.

Day 2: Istanbul — Bazaars, Bosphorus & Food

Morning: Grand Bazaar opens at 09:00. Lose yourself in the covered streets for 1–2 hours. Then walk to the Spice Market (Mısır Çarşısı) nearby.

Afternoon: Bosphorus cruise from Eminönü (the short tour is 1.5–2 hours, full tour is 6 hours). Or take the public ferry to Kadiköy for the cheapest Bosphorus experience.

Evening: Cross to Karaköy/Beyoğlu — walk İstiklal Avenue, climb or take the elevator to Galata Tower for sunset views. Dinner in Karaköy's restaurant scene.

Day 3: Istanbul — Deeper Exploration

Morning: Topkapı Palace (2 hours) or the Istanbul Archaeological Museums. Then walk the atmospheric streets behind Sultanahmet to Çemberlitaş.

Afternoon: Take the ferry to the Asian side — explore Kadıköy market streets and Moda waterfront. Or visit Dolmabahçe Palace on the European side.

Evening: A Turkish hamam (bath house) experience — Çemberlitaş or Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamam are excellent historic options. Pack for tomorrow's early flight.

Day 4: Fly to Cappadocia — Valleys & Sunset

Morning: Early flight from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevşehir (1.5 hours). Airport transfer to Göreme. Check into your cave hotel.

Afternoon: Hike the Rose Valley to Red Valley — Cappadocia's best trail (2–3 hours). Fairy chimneys, rock churches, and canyon colors.

Evening: Sunset from Lover's Hill or the Göreme panoramic viewpoint. Dinner at a rooftop restaurant with valley views. Book your balloon ride for tomorrow if not already done.

Day 5: Cappadocia — Balloons, Museum & Underground

04:30: Hot air balloon ride (pre-booked). Return to hotel by 08:00.

Morning: Generous Turkish breakfast at your cave hotel. Walk to Göreme Open Air Museum — rock-cut churches with Byzantine frescoes.

Afternoon: Drive or taxi to Derinkuyu Underground City (30 min). Explore 8 levels underground. Then visit Uçhisar Castle for panoramic views.

Evening: Last dinner in Cappadocia. Pack for tomorrow's departure.

Day 6: Fly to Ephesus — Ancient City

Morning: Fly Kayseri → Izmir (1.5 hours). Transfer to Selçuk (1 hour by train or car).

Afternoon: Visit the ancient city of Ephesus. Enter at the upper gate, walk downhill through the ruins. Don't miss the Terrace Houses (separate ticket, worth it) and the Library of Celsus.

Evening: Dinner in Selçuk — a charming Aegean town. Overnight in Selçuk.

Day 7: Selçuk Sights & Departure

Morning: Visit the Ephesus Archaeological Museum, walk to the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders), and climb to the Basilica of St. John.

Afternoon: If time allows, day trip to Şirince village (charming hilltop Greek village, 8 km away). Transfer to Izmir Airport for departure flight.
