Why Visit Fethiye & Ölüdeniz?
Fethiye is a working harbor town where fishing boats mingle with gulets, backed by pine-covered mountains and Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliff above town. It's the logistics base for the area — good restaurants, waterfront bars, and a famous fish market.
Ölüdeniz, 15 km south, is home to the Blue Lagoon — one of Turkey's most photographed beaches, an almost impossibly turquoise sheltered bay backed by forested mountains. It's also the landing zone for tandem paragliding from Babadağ mountain (1,960m), one of the best paragliding sites in the world.
Together, they offer beaches, adventure, boat trips, and the starting point of the Lycian Way long-distance trail.

Suggested Itinerary: 3 Days
Day 1: Arrive Fethiye → explore harbor and old town → Rock Tombs at sunset → dinner at Fish Market Day 2: Paragliding from Babadağ (morning) → Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon (afternoon) → beach sunset Day 3: 12 Islands boat trip (full day, departs Fethiye harbor ~10 AM) → evening in Fethiye
Common Mistakes
- Only going to Ölüdeniz — Fethiye town has great food, a harbor atmosphere, and the fish market. Don't skip it.
- Not booking paragliding in advance — In peak season, good operators book up days ahead. Morning flights tend to have calmer conditions.
- Underestimating the Lycian Way — Even short sections require proper footwear and water. It's a real trail, not a boardwalk.
- Expecting sand at Ölüdeniz — The Blue Lagoon has a pebble beach. The lagoon side has some sand patches but it's mostly fine gravel. Bring water shoes.
