Where to Buy
At the Airport (Best Option)
All three Turkish carriers have kiosks in the arrivals halls of major airports:
- Istanbul Airport (IST) — Multiple kiosks in arrivals
- Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) — Arrivals hall
- Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum, Izmir — Usually available
Turkcell has the widest coverage and most tourist-friendly packages. Look for their red-and-yellow branding.
In City Center
Carrier shops are found on main streets in every Turkish city. Look for official stores (not resellers) for guaranteed packages and proper registration.
Carrier Comparison
| Carrier | Coverage | Tourist SIM Price | Data | Validity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turkcell | Best overall | $8–$15 | 20–50GB | 15–30 days |

| Türk Telekom | Good overall | $7–$15 | 15–40GB | 15–30 days |
Recommendation: Turkcell for the best nationwide coverage, especially in rural areas, Cappadocia, and the coast.

IMEI Registration
Turkey tracks phones through their IMEI number. Foreign phones used with a Turkish SIM must be registered within 120 days — otherwise the phone gets blocked.
For tourists staying under 120 days: This does not affect you. Your phone will work fine for the duration of your visit without any registration.
